  • How do I register my business and how much does it cost?

Business registration is now done exclusively online by accessing the Ontario Business Registry

To register your business you must first sign up for a My Ontario Account. A My Ontario Account is a Government of Ontario login service that lets you sign in quickly and securely to Government of Ontario services using a single login. With a My Ontario Account, you can log in using either an email and password or using the Sign-In Partner Interac® sign-in service.

Once your My Ontario Account has been created you will be able to register your business name for a Sole Proprietorship, Partnership, or Incorporation. Upon successful completion of your business name registration, you will immediately receive a Business Name Registration certificate or Article of Incorporation in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF) via email. Online transactions are done using a credit card or debit visa only.

The cost for Sole Proprietorship and Partnership Business Name Registration is $60.00. Sole Proprietorship and Partnership Business Name Registration are valid for 5 years.

The cost for Ontario Business Incorporation is $300.00. If you would like your Ontario Corporation to have a word name instead of a numbered name, a NUANCE report is required before registration.
